Vera Newman joined the LLN in 2007, wanting to get involved with a group that advocated for people with lymphedema. Vera's husband has secondary lymphedema. Although born in Peabody, Massachusetts, she spent most of her childhood and education in Miami, Florida. While working in the banking industry in Miami during the early years of her career, she completed her undergraduate studies at University of Miami, and later returned to complete her MBA. She moved to Atlanta and took a lengthy leave of absence to be a stay at home mom with her children. Ms. Newman later returned to the work place advancing in a large medical group to the position of Administrator. Opting for early retirement, Ms. Newman now devotes her time to her passions; her husband and four children, extended family, gardening, traveling, reading, music, theater and enjoying friendships. She currently serves on the Board of the LLN and is Vice President of the Board of Trustees at her synagogue.
