Rebecca Hammad is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist and Occupational Therapist. She currently works as a Therapy Manager in the Post-Acute program at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA. Shepherd Center provides rehabilitation services post spinal cord injury, brain injury, and other neurological conditions, including multiple sclerosis. Rebecca has worked as a clinician at the Shepherd Center since 2006 across their inpatient and outpatient programs. In working with her patients she wanted to be able to provide better therapeutic interventions for managing swelling post neurological injury. Therefore, she set out to become a certified lymphedema therapist and start an edema management program at the Shepherd Center. This became a reality in late 2013. Shepherd Center now has 11 certified lymphedema therapists to be able to promote improved rehab outcomes for their clients across the rehab continuum. Rebecca earned her Bachelor of Science Education in Health Promotion Education from the University of Georgia and her Master of Health Science in Occupational Therapy from the Medical College of Georgia. She completed a 135-hour certification course in the Casley-Smith method of Complex Lymphatic Therapy. When she is not working Rebecca enjoys spending time with her husband Ramsey and two children, Benjamin (4) and Caroline (2) in Midtown, Atlanta where they live. She loves to travel, go to the ballet, and get in some exercise by running or kickboxing!
